Difference between Open source and Proprietary software 



Open Source Sofware it is free to use the software and Open Source Sofware is provides the software orginal source code. That source can modify the user wish to better than that software. Open Source Sofware gives Free distribution rights and access to Source Code to modify and give the permission to modify and distribute Modifications
The Open Source Sofware are :
  • Linux
  • Unix
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Open office.org
  • libre office
  • etc


Proprietary software is also called as closed source software. Proprietary software is a company created or owns the software. That software will not distributed with out any permission of software company. Proprietary software was purchased with out it's source code so that user cannot modify the Proprietary software. The user who want to use the Proprietary software then that user will pay. Proprietary software will not give free software. Proprietary software on the other hand in its mass distribution reserves all rights to the author except a license to run the software on the purchaser's computer

  • Adobe Photoshop
